This tutorial shows how to assemble tracking antenna.
Note: This antenna requires servos with 180 degree rotation, e.g HK12K from Hobby King or HITEC 645MG.
Other servos like BlueBird 990MG+HK should be modified to obtain full 180 degree rotation. Refer to this tutorial how to modify this servo.
We recommend use of strong servo with metal gear to achieve good speed and precision of positioning.
Antenna tracker consists ot 3 main parts which should be mounted separately then mounted together.
First put all nuts to its places in all elements. Use pillers or small hammer.
Mount servo arm to dedicated plate. You may need to drill appropriate 3mm holes to fit screws
Assemble first part of antenna puttings elements to dedicated sockets.
Fix screws on opposite side
Note: servo arm should be mounted on the inner side!
Next collect items for second part:
Put items together and fix it with srews
Finally put upper plate and fix it
Put servo to its place and fix with small screws from servo kit.
It’s time for last part
Put together 3 items from picture above
Mound another servo arm and put these items together
Mount parts together
Similar way mount last items left, and mount it together
Insert servo and fix with small screws
Now mount ball bearings on its places and fix parts with long screws
Properly mounted antenna looks like that
